Specialized Theater Performances

Drawing from my background as an actress and director, I have developed an organic therapeutic theater process with individuals to help them find and express their voice around core life issues that they identify. With a focus on social justice, issues such as bullying, violence, abuse, racism, and LGBTQ discrimination have been some of the topics addressed. Working together with professional actors, these groups offer performances of the play they have developed.

Group Performances have included:

  • A short play on bullying:  National conference on prevention of bullying, sponsored by the New York Times and City Council, and live streamed by Time Warner Cable.

  • Searching for Peace:  A play reflecting the impact of the Columbine shootings on students in New York City. Lucille Lortel Theater

  • Collateral Damage: A play about the students effected by the September 11th attacks. Lucille Lortel Theater.

  • Show UP!:  Funded by the New York City Council, a play about dropout prevention with students “at risk of dropping out of school” and professional actors. New World Stages

“I have been to your culminating student performance event. I was able to see firsthand my students act out difficult situations in their lives and model overcoming obstacles in the performance. It was very inspiring and meaningful to my students and their families.”

Ms. Ramires, Teacher

“Theater is about embodying emotions, giving voice to them, becoming rhythmically engaged, taking on and embodying different roles.”
